Story Treatment

News Radio

Bulletins are different from station to station. This is because they cater to different audiences. For instance capital FM caters to the younger audience and reports stories such as celebrity news and social networking etc. It sounds different as its more upbeat with news beds used and less formal style.
Radio solent on the other hand is much more formal without the jingles or news beds. Radio solent reports on stories catering to the more mature audience reporting news on politics and news events.

Stories are reported in different ways to add impact. This is Story Treatment.

Copy- This is where the only voice you hear is the newsreaders. It is a story with no audio attached to it .
Clip- This is where you hear a sound bite from another person, who isn't another reporter. It may be part of an interview.

Wrap- This is where you hear the news reader, followed by a clip, then back to the newsreader.

Vox- This is where a story is enhanced by public opinion. It adds interest to a story involving the audience to interact.

Voicer- This is where the newsreader crosses over to someone at the scene with more expert knowledge on the particular subject e.g. our sports reporter has more.
