Evaluation
The target audience for our Vox Pops is middle aged adults. The stories reported relate to them, for example our Vox Pops contained stories about immigration and political themes.
Audio is used in our news bulletins to add interest. We attempted to add sound beds and effects to the sound, however this was not successful. We attempted to make the voicer more professional with attributes such as audio.
We chose to do a vox pop on the topic of immigration because it is a popular debate which will raise discussion. Most people have strong views on this subject therefore responses will be strong and not short one word answers.
The hardest thing about producing a voice piece was cooperating with college students as not many are willing to discuss topics when being recorded.
We tried to make our scripts and audio follow the conventions of news. We made our script fairly formal and fast paced. The audio was formal as we asked the people in our vox pops to speak slowly and clearly which follows a convention similar to those in the news today.
I feel as though the research and voice piece for this assignment was successful, however I was not overly happy with the finished editing on the vox pop and voicer. The editing did not sound as professional as i had hoped. This is because the software used was new and the task was more about getting used to the software rather than producing a successful professional outcome as I was a beginner with the software. Next time I hope that I can improve the editing skills with experience.
